MLLT owns 162 acres along both sides of Highway 49 in Sutter Creek. The property east of the highway is accessible to the public. The site was originally purchased by Caltrans in 2003 to fulfill mitigation responsibilities for the Sutter Creek bypass construction project. MLLT acquired the property in 2022.

Public access to Erickson Ranch is through a gate at the Old Tonzi Road off Sutter Creek-Ione Road. Another public use gate is available on the west side of Old Route 49.

Non-motorized recreational use is available from dawn to dusk. No vehicles are allowed beyond the gates without prior permission from MLLT.
